뉴욕교회협의회 청소년센터는 오는 6월 24일 오후 4시에 청소년과 학부모를 대상으로 라정미 변호사를 강사로 모시고 뉴욕효신장로교회 (문석호 목사 시무)에서 범죄예방세미나를 엽니다.
뉴욕시는 치안이 잘 유지되는 것으로 손꼽히는 도시입니다. 그러나 치안을 유지하는 과정에서 무고한 시민이 범죄를 저지른 것으로 오해를 받는 경우가 있습니다. 오해는 쉽게 풀어지기도 하지만, 경우에 따라서는 수 년간의 재판으로 이어지거나, 교정시설에 구금되는 일도 실제로 일어납니다. 청소년들은 자신이 저지르지 않은 잘못에 대해 책임을 지게 되기도 하며, 스스로 깨닫지 못하는 사이에 범죄에 해당하는 잘못을 저지르기도 합니다.
이번 세미나에서는 뉴욕시 검찰 출신의 라정미 변호사의 강의를 통해, 여러 가지 폭력범죄와 왕따 범죄의 가해자나 피해자가 되는 것을 예방할 수 있는 길을 알려드리고, 뜻하지 않게 범죄를 저지르게 되었거나, 범죄자로 오인 받게 되었을 때 잘 대처하여 스스로를 보호할 수 있는 방법을 안내해 드립니다.

The Asian Youth Center of New York will be hosting a Crime Prevention Seminar on June 24th, 2018 (4pm / For parents and students) at the Hyo Shin Bible Presbyterian Church of New York (Senior Pastor: Rev. Suk Ho Moon). The seminar will be led by criminal defense attorney, Megan Rha, Esq.
New York is often regarded as one of the safest cities in the country. However, in the process of keeping the streets safe, innocent civilians are often mischarged with crimes due to misunderstandings. Although working out these misunderstandings should not be difficult, those who do not know how to deal with them may end up facing years of trials or end up in correctional facilities. Adolescents may end up being held accountable for crimes they did not commit or charged for actions that they did not realize were illegal.
The Youth Crime Prevention Seminar, led by criminal defense attorney Megan Rha, will tackle and address how to prevent being a victim of violence and bullying. The seminar will also cover how to deal with being convicted of a crime you did not commit and how to prevent unintentional involvement in illegal activities.
